Custom Quick Style Sets
Any template or document placed in the QuickStyles folder that contains Quick Styles
is available in the list of Style Sets. The QuickStyles folder will be the C:\Users\ user
name \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft folder for both Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
To delete a custom Quick Style Set, simply delete the Quick Style Set file from the QuickStyles
folder. Built-in Quick Style Sets can also be modified and deleted from the QuickStyles folder.
Resetting Quick Styles
When you modify styles that are part of the Quick Style Set or change Quick Style
Sets, you have the option to reset the styles. The options for resetting can be found
at the bottom of the Quick Style Set list. These two options, Reset To Quick Styles
From Template and Reset Document Quick Styles, might appear to provide the same
functionality; however, there is a distinct difference between these options.
Reset Document Quick Styles is only available if you change Quick Style Sets or modify
styles in the Quick Style gallery. When this option is used, the Quick Styles revert to the
formatting of the Quick Style Set saved with the last version of the document. If you
are experimenting with Quick Styles, you can always return to the formatting defined
in the Quick Styles when the document was first opened. Note that once you have
saved and closed the document, any changes you made to Quick Styles become the
new document Quick Styles. Additionally, this option only applies to those styles that
are part of the Quick Style gallery and does not reset any other styles in the document.
Reset To Quick Styles From Template (if the document template is not the Normal
template, then the command reads Reset To Quick Styles From Template Name Template)
resets the Quick Styles to those in the attached document template. This option is
similar to using the Automatically Update Document Styles option found in the Templates
And Add-Ins dialog box, previously discussed in Chapter 4. However, it only applies to
styles in the Quick Style gallery and not to all document styles. If you need to update
all styles in a document, use the Automatically Update Document Styles option instead.
To set a Quick Style Set as your default set of styles for all new documents based on the
Normal template, use the Set As Default command under Change Styles.
