Adjusting the structure
Basic steps
To add a shape
You can adjust the structure of your chart by adding, deleting
or moving shapes. Additional shapes must be related to an
existing shape.

Click the shape that you
wish to relate a new
shape to
There are three types of relationship to choose from –
subordinate, co-worker and assistant.

Click Insert Shape to
insert a Subordinate box
Subordinate – the new shape will be placed below the
selected shape and connected to it
Or

Co-worker – the new shape is placed next to the selected
shape and is connected to the same superior shape
Click the down arrow to
the right of the Insert
Shape tool on the
Organization Chart toolbar and
select the type of shape
Assistant – the new shape is placed below the selected
shape with an elbow connector.
