To Add a Conditional Formatting Rule with an Icon Set
The Grade fi eld was added to the table in order to provide a visual cue to the user of the worksheet regarding
each sales rep’s performance. One method to achieve a similar result is to display an icon next to the % of Quota per-
centage for each sales rep. Conditional formatting provides a number of icons, including icons with the appearance of
traffi c signals, fl ags, bars, and arrows. Icon sets include sets of three, four, or fi ve icons. You use an icon set depending
on how many ways you need to group your data. For example, in the case of grades for the sales reps, there are fi ve
different grades and, therefore, an icon set that includes fi ve icons should be used. You defi ne rules for the condi-
tions under which each icon of the fi ve is displayed in a cell. The following steps add a conditional format to the % of
Quota fi eld in the Sales Rep table.
