To Display Automatic Subtotals in a Table

Click the Convert to Range
command on the Table submenu.

Offi ce Excel dialog box, click the
Yes button to convert the table to
a range.

changes
does Excel
make to
the worksheet?
As shown in
Figure 5–45, Excel
adds eight subtotal
rows and one grand
total row to the
table, including one
subtotal for each dif-
ferent state and one
grand total row for
the entire table. The
names for each sub-
total row are derived
from the state names
and appear in bold. Thus, the text, AZ Total, in cell E11 identifi es the subtotal row that contains Quota and YTD Sales
totals for Arizona.
