To Zoom Out on a Subtotaled Table and Use the Outline Feature
The following steps show how to use the Zoom Out button on the status bar to reduce the magnifi cation of
the worksheet so that the table is more readable. The steps also illustrate how to use the outline features of Excel to
hide and unhide data and totals.

Click the Zoom Out
button on the status
bar once to reduce
the zoom percent to
90% (Figure 5–46).

Click the row level
symbol 2 on the left
side of the window
to hide all detail
rows and display
only the subtotal
and grand total rows
(Figure 5–47).
How can I use the
outlining features?
By utilizing the
outlining features
of Excel, you quickly
can hide and show
detail rows. You can
click the row level
symbols to expand
or collapse rows
in the worksheet.
Row level symbol 1,
immediately below
the Name box, hides
all rows except the
Grand Total row.
