Saving an AutoShape to a File
There are several ways to create a GIF file from an AutoShape. The following
procedure is a simple technique that requires no additional software. This method
works with Excel 2000 or later.
Start with an empty single-sheet workbook.
Create any number of AutoShapes on the worksheet and format them to your

Specify a directory and filename. The location and filename are not
important. This is just a temporary file that can be deleted.
The workbook will be saved in HTML format and a new directory will be created. That
directory will hold the AutoShapes, each in a separate GIF file.
Alternatively, you can copy the AutoShape as a bitmap, paste it to a graphics program,
and then save the file. To copy an AutoShape as a bitmap, select the object, press
Shift and choose Edit Copy Picture, and choose the Bitmap option.
