Exaggerating differences or similarities
The scale settings for the value axis of a chart can have a tremendous effect on a
chart’s overall impact. Figure 11-3 shows two charts. Both charts display the same
data, but they present dramatically different messages.
In the top chart, the value axis has a range of 15,000 units. In the bottom chart,
the axis has a range of only 160 units, which causes the minor deviations in the
data to be magnified.
