Using the AVERAGE Function
Note
Sum Directions Excel sums the values directly above the selected cell
first. If no values are above it, Excel looks for values in the cells to the
left.
Using the AVERAGE Function
The AVERAGE function finds an average value of a range of cells. The syntax for
this
function
is
=AVERAGE( range
of
values
to
average ).
An
example
might
be
=AVERAGE(B7:D7).
Type the equal ( = ) sign in the cell where you want to place the average.
Type the function name AVERAGE .
Type the open parentheses symbol.
Type or highlight the range to be averaged.
Type the close parentheses symbol.
Press Enter . Excel averages the values in the selected range.
